ReFi Hub is a blockchain-based platform that brings impact investing on-chain by tokenizing real-world assets (RWA). It connects investors with businesses driving environmental change, offering a transparent, decentralized way to fund projects with measurable impact. The platform's primary investment focus includes clean energy sectors such as solar power, climate technology, electric vehicles (EVs), and sustainable Bitcoin mining.

The team behind ReFi Hub began their journey with the launch of Coral Tribe, an NFT collection on the Solana blockchain in 2022. This initiative curated opportunities for users to invest in climate projects and earn returns. Building upon this foundation, they have developed an integrated platform for impact investment projects. Kalmia has been a development partner from the outset, providing technical expertise and assisting in securing additional funding for their new ventures.

The Challenge

Building a Cross-Chain Investment Platform

Developing an investment platform that seamlessly integrates cross-chain technologies while maintaining a frictionless user experience (UX) presented several challenges:

  • Cross-Chain Functionality: Ensuring smooth interoperability between Solana, Moonbeam, Polygon, and Celo blockchains while enabling secure asset transfers.
  • KYC & Compliance: Managing Know Your Customer (KYC) processes for legal compliance, using soulbound NFT-based verification to control access to investments.
  • User-Friendly Experience: Abstracting blockchain complexities to offer a simple and intuitive investment process.
  • Messaging Reliability: Handling potential delays and message integrity issues when transferring data across chains.
  • Smart Contract Coordination: Collaborating with a separate Solana smart contract team to ensure smooth integration with EVM-based contracts.

Our Approach & Web3 Tech Stack

For ReFi Hub, we adopted a project-based approach, first working on the Coral Tribe NFT launch and later building the investment platform. Each phase was structured around clearly defined requirements and full-scope development planning.

We also worked closely with a separate Solana development team, ensuring smooth coordination for cross-chain smart contract functionalities.

  • Wormhole Cross-Chain Messaging: Implemented a master-slave architecture for cross-chain communications.

03 KYC Verification System

  • Integration with Synapsis KYC Provider: Seamless identity verification process.
  • Soulbound NFT KYC Contracts: Users receive a non-transferable NFT as proof of identity verification.
  • Multiple KYC Levels: Tiered verification (e.g., up to $50k vs. unlimited investment tiers).
  • Restricted Access: Only verified KYC NFT holders can deposit and trade assets.

04 NFT-Based Memberships & Discounts

  • Premium Memberships: Exclusive investment benefits for Coral Tribe NFT holders.
  • On-Chain Discounts: Applied via off-chain signature verification to streamline transactions.

05 Airdrop & Referral Tracking System

  • Referral Generation & Tracking: Users earn rewards for referring new investors.
  • Social Media Engagement Tracking: Rewards distributed based on Twitter activity (likes, reposts, etc.).

06 Fiat On/Off-Ramp & Wallet Integration

  • Withpaper Email Wallet Integration: Simplifies onboarding for non-crypto users.
  • Transak Fiat On/Off-Ramp: Seamless fiat-to-crypto conversions with custom Transak One integrations.
